As organizations face internal and external challenges including building stronger performance, competing in a global environment, and adapting to constant change, there is a need to rethink how organizations operate.  Organization Design has become a fundamental skill expected from both HR and Organization Development professionals.  This working group will focus on the challenges companies are facing in this area as well as share best practices as organizations build their capabilities in organization design.

A few of the areas we may explore include:
  • Organizational design models and tools
  • Building org design capabilities within the HR function
  • Delivering org design capabilities to the organization
  • Collaborating with external partners (i.e. consultants)
  • The role of the HRBP in org design as HR organizations transform
  • Building on-going agility through iterative design approaches
  • Using design thinking within organizational design
  • Change management strategies and approaches

In preparation for the meeting, please spend some time reflecting on your own personal experiences in the above areas. During the meeting, well spend time talking about each of the areas as well as others that are identified through the course of our conversations together.

If there are other specific issues you would like to discuss, please send them prior to the session to Beth Flynn-Ferry (eef9@cornell.edu) or Jo Hagin (jap7@cornell.edu).  We look forward to seeing you in California.

This working group will run from 8:30-3:00pm with a continental breakfast and working lunch.  The session is free of charge to CAHRS partner firms, but participation is limited to no more than twenty-five attendees.
