Students talking with top HR executive at CAHRS Roundtable event

CORNELL UNIVERSITY | STATLER HOTEL - CARRIER BALLROOM | ITHACA, NY | SEPTEMBER 12-13, 2019

One unique and valuable aspect of the CAHRS partnership is the opportunity for CAHRS executives to interact with future HR professionals pursuing their graduate studies or finishing theirundergraduate studies at Cornell to shape their educational and career choices.  Since 1997, CAHRS has offered our partners an opportunity to be involved in the annual orientation held for incoming and returning graduate students and undergraduate juniors and seniors in the School of Industrial and Labor Relations. Space limitations require that we limit the number of CAHRS executives participating in this event to 20. We will first confirm the seats to the Senior Vice President's that desire to attend andothers may register to attend but we cannot confirm a seat until we have given the SVPs the opportunity to register first.

This years roundtables will start with a networking reception with executives and students on September 12th from 6:00-8:00pm in the Carrier Ballroom of the Statler Hotel.  CAHRS partners are welcome to invite another representative from their company to attend this reception.

The roundtables will begin on September 13th with a breakfast for the executives participating in the roundtables from 7:00-8:00am and then the roundtables linking students and executives will run from 8:00am-12:00pm.  We will start with an overview by the CAHRS Director.  This overview will position the roundtable discussion in the context of the classes and activities that students will be considering during their studies at ILR.  We anticipate 100-120 students will attend the roundtables.   The roundtables are meant to provide students and executives an opportunity to exchange questions and ideas about the field of HR, the most important issues facing individual companies, the skills needed by future HR professionals, and what companies look for in recruiting entry level professionals.  Please note that we are asking that only one company contact be involved in the roundtable session.  Students will also be able to "drop off" their resumes after the event and we will collect them and forward them along to the executives.
