As we emerge from the Covid-19 pandemic, companies are eager to define and transition to a post-pandemic normal. Yet, with new hybrid work models, increasing employee attrition across industries, and continued uncertainty about the lasting impacts of the pandemic period on the employment relationship, companies are facing a host of talent challenges.  This CAHRS series of working groups is aimed at helping our partner companies think through critical talent-related challenges and opportunities associated with the post-pandemic transition.  Ideal attendees to these sessions are individuals responsible for leading different talent initiatives and programs within their organization.

In this first working group of the series, Professor JR Keller will lead a discussion about what organizations are doing to improve the candidate experience at each stage of the recruiting process. The idea of creating an exceptional candidate experience has taken a central role in conversations about how to effectively acquire external talent and has become even more critical as the competition for talent intensifies. The candidate experience refers to the perceptions a candidate develops about your organization based on all of the interactions that the candidate has with your company throughout the recruiting process (and sometimes even before). Participants will share what has worked for their organizations, what they are still struggling with and how they measure success. We will also talk about some of the technologies used to improve the candidate experience. Participants will have ample time to share best practices and pose questions to the group.

Some of the questions that will guide our discussion will include:

•    As you think about the candidate experience your organization currently delivers, what are you particularly proud of?  What seems to be working well?

•    Did you make any changes to your recruiting process during the pandemic (virtual interviews, for example) that you intend to continue post-pandemic? How have they changed the candidate experience?

•    How do you measure or otherwise assess the candidate experience?

About our CAHRS Series of Working Groups

The CAHRS Series of working groups are designed to examine a particular theme or topic from a number of different perspectives. The other sessions included in the “Talent Management during the Post-Pandemic Transition” working group series are listed below and can be found in the events section of the CAHRS website.

•    Session 2: Managing Employee Turnover and Worker Mobility (September 21st, 12:00-1:30pm ET)
•    Session 3: Evolving Learning and Development (October 5th, 1:00-2:30pm ET)
•    Session 4: Building and Maintaining Employee Engagement (October 21st, 12:00-1:30pm ET)

Our virtual working groups are kept small (15-25 participants) to allow for rich discussion and best practice sharing.  Given the limited size of each session, we ask that you only register for a session if you will be able to attend for the duration.  Prior to the session, attendees should give some thought to the questions included in the description, so they are prepared to share with the group.  We also strongly prefer that participants be on camera during the session to allow for more engaging interaction.  If for some reason after you sign up for the working group, something comes up last minute (especially while many of us are working from home), it would be great to get even a last minute e-mail advising us that you cannot attend as we sometimes have a waiting list.
