Companies with strong employer brands have traditionally held a competitive advantage in the war for talent; however, recent shifts call into question how well companies are managing and leveraging their employer brands to attract top talent.  For example, we have seen large changes in terms of what individuals expect from their employer and what makes them see some employers as more attractive than others based on external market forces (e.g., introduction of new generations in the workforce, changes in how employees work as the result of technology and the pandemic).  Similarly, the past 5-7 years have seen a sea change in terms of how companies are managing the employee experience.

As a result, it is important for companies to rethink their employer brand and how to successfully leverage employer brands. Specifically, organizations should rethink how to identify, communicate, and embed their employer brand based on the current state of the employee experience in their organization and the needs and expectations of the key talent that they are looking to attract.

In this working group, Professor Chris Collins will lead a discussion on the connection between employer brands and the employee experience and the power of employer brands in attracting top talent to the organization.

•    What are key changes that companies have made to reshape the employee experience and how are they leveraging these changes to recraft their employer brand?

•    What approaches are companies using to communicate their employer brand more effectively, particularly for those companies that have been working to reshape their employer brand?

•    How are companies reflecting differences in the employee experience across different employee groups (e.g., front-line service or manufacturing employees versus corporate office employees) and how to reflect these differences as you communicate about your employer brand?

•    What methods and measures are companies using to monitor and assess the impact of their employer brand or changes to their employer brand?

Participants who are the best fit for this working group would include Senior HR Business Partners and HR Specialists with responsibilities for supporting and driving organizational employer branding, applicant attraction, and/or the employee experience.

Prior to the session, attendees should give some thought to the questions included in the description, so they are prepared to share with the group.  We also strongly prefer that participants be on camera during the session to allow for more engaging interaction.  If for some reason after you sign up for the working group, something comes up last minute (especially while many of us are working from home), it would be great to get even a last minute e-mail advising us that you cannot attend as we sometimes have a waiting list.
